To strengthen
measures in curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the community, the Vietnamese
Government has decided as follows:
1. Temporarily suspend entry of foreign nationals who come from or have
visited or transited via the Schengen countries and the UK within 14 days
preceding their expected entry into Viet Nam for the purposes of tourism,
visiting relatives, studying or other personal purposes. It will be effective
for 30 days from 12:00 (noon) 15 March 2020.
2. Suspend visa upon arrival for all foreign nationals, regardless of
their country and territory of origin. It will be effective for 30 days from
12:00 (noon) 15 March 2020.
3. Entry visas shall be suspended for foreign visitors for 30 days,
starting from 00:00 18 March 2020.
4. From 00:00 18 March
2020, entrants who are exempt from entry visas, holders of visa-exempt certificates (people of
Vietnamese origin and their family members) or other special cases (experts,
corporate managers, skilled labor) must present Covid-19 negative certificate
issued by competent authorities of their country of residence at their arrival
in Viet Nam. The certificate must be approved in advance by the Vietnamese
competent authorities prior to their arrival.
These
measures shall not be applicable to entrants for diplomatic or official
purposes.
5. Entrants into Viet Nam
shall be subject to medical screening and other preventive measures or
quarantine in accordance with the regulations.
6. Mandatory
quarantine at designated facilities shall be expanded to include all entrants
from the US, European and ASEAN countries. Home quarantine and further medical
monitoring at place of work and residence, and monitoring by groups shall be
applicable to those not subject to mandatory quarantine at designated
facilities.
7. From 16 March 2020, Viet Nam requires that:
- All Vietnamese and foreign nationals in Viet Nam shall wear face masks
at crowded public places, including supermarkets, airport terminals, train
stations, coach stations, and public transport vehicles.
- All passengers on domestic and international flights to and from Viet
Nam shall wear face masks throughout the flight and during their stay at the
airport terminals.
Viet Nam has informed all diplomatic missions,
consular offices and representative offices of international organizations in
Viet Nam of the decision. Viet Nam will continue monitoring the Covid-19
developments, and maintain close collaboration with other countries,
international organizations and partners in order to swiftly adjust our
measures accordingly, thus protecting the health and safety of Vietnamese
citizens and all foreigners in Viet Nam in line with our ultimate goal in this
combat against the Covid-19./.
